Autocross

Our team has been managing this competition for over 15 years, and it was designed specifically for Camaro and F-Body Fest. The first time we attempted an autocross, we realized we wanted something a little bit more. So our Team worked hard to ensure drivers' fun and safety by revamping a typical course to better suit our high-powered, RWD Camaros and Firebirds. You can expect technical hairpin corners, fast sweepers, and a full-throttle straight or two. This is very popular with drivers who would like to race their cars, but struggle with the expense or risk of a full-scale road course.

Throughout the weekend, competitors can expect 3 qualifying sessions during which drivers will lap the course as many times as possible to practice. At the end of the session, The fastest times will be used to invite competitors to the shootout we call Spectator Autocross!

Winners will receive one of several beautiful Trophies in the following categories. 

Competition Classes

Vehicles are divided into four performance-based classes:

• C1 – Entry Level Performance
• C2 – Intermediate Performance
• C3 – Advanced Performance
• C4 – Maximum Performance

Each class represents a progressively higher level of vehicle capability and modification.

Class placement is determined by the Fest technical staff using the vehicle information submitted during registration. Competitors are responsible for providing complete and accurate details regarding their vehicle configuration.

Our goal is to ensure balanced and fair competition within each class.

Vehicle Classification Philosophy

Autocross is a discipline that rewards overall vehicle performance, not just horsepower.

While engine output is a factor, the Autocross classification system places greater emphasis on the components that most directly affect lap times and vehicle control, including:

• Tire Size and Treadwear Rating
• Suspension design and modifications
• Brake Systems
• ABS and electronic driver aids
• Vehicle Model (SS, Z28, 1LE, ZL1)
• Vehicle Generation (1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th)
• Aerodynamics
• Engine Modifications

Because of their impact on cornering speed, braking performance, and consistency, tires, suspension, and braking systems are weighted more heavily than engine power when determining class placement.

This approach better reflects the true performance potential of a vehicle in an autocross environment.

Class Assignment

After you purchase your tickets, click on the "Download Tickets" link in the email.  This is where competitors will provide information about their vehicle. 

Using this information, Autocross staff will assign each vehicle to the most appropriate class.

• This system has been carefully developed to ensure:
• Competitive balance within each class
• Fair opportunities for drivers to compete for class wins
• A level playing field for a wide variety of Camaro and F-Body builds

If a competitor has questions regarding their class assignment, Autocross staff will be available at the event to provide clarification.

Pro Class – Best of the Fest

The Pro Class: Best of the Fest returns for this year’s event.

Drivers in this class will compete across multiple Camaro Fest competitions, including:

• Autocross
• Drag Racing
• Car Show

Rather than competing within the standard C1–C4 classes, Best of the Fest competitors are scored relative to other Pro Class drivers across all participating events.

The competitor with the strongest combined performance will earn the title of Best of the Fest Champion.
